On Wednesday 26/10/22 Hexham Football Club staged its first ever MASH UP event for players between 5-12 currently playing in teams or training regularly within the club.
The Football Development committee proposed an idea amongst team coaches to try a mixed age group event in the half term holidays where players of all ages, sexes, and abilities were invited to participate in small sided games. Due to popular demand, the club was able to create two separate events, one in the morning for children between 5 - 9 years old and one in the afternoon for children 9 - 12 years old.
Boys and Girls alike were mixed up in to teams and invited to play a number of small sided games with various scenarios. We wanted to try recreate an informal gathering of players who would just play games with no coaching and where the Coaches were mere supervisors. In doing this event we hoped to bring children from the club together, some of which may have never met each other before. We wanted to promote confidence within players of all abilities and perhaps make them aware that they can play with and against players older than themselves.
The day went brilliantly, the children were all fantastic and enthusiastic about the event with lots of smiling faces. We were lucky enough to have a great local photographer in attendance for the later event and links to the pictures will be messaged to parents. We would like to say a huge thank you to Coaches Rob Kitchen, Dan Sempers and Shaun Jewitt for assisting Mark with the event on the day and all of the team coaches in helping to prepare the admin prior to the day.
More importantly a HUGE Thank you to all of the children who participated, some of which were playing team games for the very first time.
Well done everyone, Hexham FC is a great community club when all parts come together.
Thanks to BC Photography for coming along and more photos on the website gallery.
