What an amazing day at Hexham Football Clubs Presentation Day for 2023/24 season.

The weather was kind and everyone had a great time. A huge thank you goes to all of our amazing volunteers who helped make it such a memorable day for the children.

Also, a giant thanks you to a very dedicated member of our volunteer team - Hexham FC Secretary Gwyneth Scott.

At presentation day we honoured Gwyneth's dedication and long service with a small token of our appreciation as she will sadly step down as Secretary after over 16 long years at the club. Whilst she liked her gift, no gift would ever really be enough for the years of dedication she has given to the club behind the scenes. Often people only ever see coaches who are indeed the face of the club, but people like Gwyneth help make it all tick.

Many who know her will agree she has been the heartbeat of the club, particularly in times where we were run by only few dedicated individuals. Now we are in a much healthier place as a club, and the time is right for her to take a well-earned rest.

Gwyneth is not alone; we have another brilliant volunteer Andy Marrow who is also stepping down. Andy first started up as a coach and then as treasurer for the last few years. He and Gwyneth have been instrumental in modernising our difficult registration and payment process.

We would like to thank Ivan Jepson who has stepped down as a committee member of the club and also gave years of dedication to the club as a coach.

We honour with long service awards to Martin Lowes who is currently still helping coach the Hexham senior team.

Two brand new awards have been created in Gwyneth and Martins honour and were given out at this Year's Presentation Day.

The newly named 'Martin Lowes Award' will now be given to the best male player in the club season upon season and this year's Winner was Alex McDonough.

The newly named ‘Gwyneth Scott Award' will go to the best female player with this year’s going to Una Clay-Wallers.

Congratulations to both.

We would like to wish Gwyneth, Andy, and Ivan a very happy retirement from volunteering at the club and send our heartfelt thanks to them on behalf of all coaches, players, and committee members past and present.

Andy will be replaced as Treasurer by Louise Jewitt and Gwyneth will be replaced as Club Secretary by Mark Gradwell.
